How to Get the Best From Your French Press Coffee Maker

How to Get the Best From Your French Press Coffee Maker - Coffee addicts love a French press coffee maker, which is making a rave in America. It is also referred to as a press pot, coffee press or plunger pot and is also very popular in Europe and Australia. Each time you brew coffee in your French press coffee maker, you can guarantee it will be ready to drink. This is so because this stylish coffee maker has a glass carafe which is cylindrical and a mesh filter made of stainless steel which keeps the coffee grounds separated from your freshly brewed coffee. If you know how to make French press coffee and do not mind making it just when you need it, then you will have no problem preserving your French press coffee maker because you should not make more coffee than you can drink in a short period of time; it is not recommended to have coffee being stored in the French press for long.

As stated before, you should not leave the coffee sitting inside the coffee maker, therefore you should not leave it in there to try and warm it because it will still be extracting while it is there. If it is that you need to keep the coffee warm for a while before it will be consumed, then you should probably pour it out into a thermos or another container that will keep it warm. Due to the fact that scalded coffee wont taste as good, it is recommended that you boil the water before you start the grinding of the beans, this will give the water time to cool to an appropriate temperature for brewing.

Because we do not want to scald the coffee and we want the water to boil properly, you should get a kettle and fill it with cold water and then boil it to about 195 degrees, then allow it to cool down a bit while you grind the beans, you can opt to use an electric kettle or a regular kettle. Another way of keeping your coffee warm for the duration that it is in the French press maker, is to warm up the glass previous to making the coffee. This can be done by pouring hot water from your pipe into the French press glass after removing the filter and the plunger, let this stand in the glass until your water in the kettle is boiled and you are ready to make coffee. When the kettle is ready, pour out the hot tap water, put in the grounded coffee beans and then add the water from the kettle.

After that is done, then you can replace the filter, the plunger and the lid, but do not start plunging as yet, let the brew sit for a little while to draw as much flavour as you want from the coffee grounds.
