How to Make Delicious Iced Coffee - Iced coffee is a delicious summer time drink. I crave it all year-long; however, in the summer I drink it more often. There are various ways to prepare this delicious beverage and today I will discuss a few of my favorites. The great thing about iced coffee is you can make it at home without paying the high coffee store prices!

Something new to the world of iced coffee is International Delight. They are now offering pre-made iced coffee in the dairy or juice section of your grocery store. They offer three flavors: Original, Vanilla and Mocha. I have tried all three and I have to say they are very good! However, I find them to be too sweet so I end up adding both cooled coffee and milk to them to cut the sweetness. This type of drink will do in a pinch; however, I have to say I prefer making it from scratch when I can.

The first step in iced coffee is brewing it. There are two methods to doing this. One is to brew a very strong pot of coffee and let it cool. You can then put that in the fridge and keep the pitcher there for when you want to make a drink. The key to a great drink is to not have it watered down! The worst thing you can do is pour hot or warm coffee over ice and expect to have a delicious drink. That results in a watered down, luke warm mess. The key is to make sure you have some cold java on hand when thinking of making this drink.

The second method for brewing is to make it the old-fashioned way. That simply means you actually step coffee grounds in cold water. You let them hang out on the counter over night, and in the morning you drain the mixture using a strainer and cheesecloth. Then you can keep a pitcher of the strained coffee in your fridge for strong and delicious java drinks! I prefer this method as you can make a very strong pitcher that will last a long time.

After you have your strong and cold java, you simply want to add some ice. Next comes the fun part, deciding how you want to drink it. I like to add a bit of vanilla simple syrup and some skim milk to keep it light and refreshing!
